Catch up night

I am the queen of laundry. With all the renovations going on with Victoria's room I have been very slack with the laundry. I realized that I had NO clean scrubs at all...Soooo for the last several hours I have done laundry. It is my hope that I won't have to iron, but I am not going to count myself that lucky.

As per my "Dear Rogers Wireless" post my cell phone lost all my numbers in the phone/address book once again. I am not ignoring any of you I swear. I just don't have ANY of your numbers at all. PLEASE get in touch with me so I can try to rebuild my contact list again. Email/Facebook/Text/MSN me the number.

Back to day shift tomorrow. Honestly today was pretty stressful so I hope tomorrow is better.

Off to finish my laundry.. Yippee :P

Beach time

It was a beautiful day in the valley today. It was really hot and muggy so Victoria and I went to the cottage for most of the day. We left just before lunch, stopped at Subway and then went to the cottage until just before supper. We went to Berwick for supper with Bill and Lousie who are home from Ontario for a visit. It was really great to see them.

The following are some random pictures from today. Isn't Victoria cute??

Dear Rogers Wireless....

Dear Rogers Wireless,

Tonight my cell phone dropped 4 calls even though I was in an area with full bars of reception. I received several text messages sent by people last weekend. I know the post office is slow but honestly an old fashion letter would reach me faster! As if this were not enough to illustrate just how useless this phone is, I have lost ALL the contacts in my phone book again. I have no clue how this phone deletes them or why but it does. This does not make me a happy person/consumer/customer. I do not wish to pay $400 + the next month to cancel my plan. I am tired of calling the 1-800 customer line to talk to a computerized menu that for whatever reason has no voice recognition skills. When I finally do get put through to a representative it appears my options are limited...or perhaps this is because I have not yet found the one English speaking employee you are required by law to hire. When I do finally get through to someone do not be surprised if I tell you where you can stick your stinking cell phone and the exorbitant plan that costs me a lot and provides me with very limited service. If you wish to keep taking my money monthly please provide me with a cell phone that will actually allow me to make a 2 minute phone call without being dropped 10 times. It would be nice if my text messages were received more promptly as well. I mean really if my friend in BC can drive and get here faster than his text message what is the point in sending a text message??? I am sure any of the competition will be just as happy to take my money as you are, with one small exception, they will actually provide service and a working phone.

Yours Truly,

Pictures of the room so far

Here are some pictures of what has been done up to now. I can't wait until it is finished.

Room Update

Victoria's room is taking longer than expected. The new flooring was a pain in the rear to install. Thank you Jeff...not many friends would come over at 11pm and stay until 3am to help lay a new floor!!!

Anyway most of the room is done....the following however I have been putting off....

-Assemble the new dresser

-Put the door back on the room

-Put the closet doors on

-Touch up the moldings to hide the nails

-Move all the clothes, toys and books back in

Victoria is happy with it so far and so am I. :)

I hate wallpaper

As per a previous post I am doing some renovations to Victoria's room. I have been trying to remove wallpaper from the wall since Sunday. Keep in mind this wall paper was NOT on all the walls. It was only on one wall, and around the door. This stuff is pure EVIL. You can't soak the wall paper with fabric softener as the outer layer acts as a moister barrier. This means that the removal of the wallpaper is complex and can only be done when you rip off the outer layer of the wall paper off first. Next you have to mix up fabric softener with water and soak the reaming backing with the solution. Then once it is really really wet you have to use a paint scraper to scrape the remaining backing of the wall. Keep in mind that you are removing pieces of backing the size of polly pocket clothing. I swear this task would test the patients of a saint.
I am getting really frustrated.

If anyone EVER suggests putting wall paper on any wall in my home again I will physically harm them lol. If I EVER suggest putting wall paper on my walls again remind me how much I hate smelling like fabric softener.

I need a vacation...anyone want to come with me????

Calling All Painters

I am in the process of repainting Victoria's room. Yes I did this last year but I never really liked the way it turned out. Victoria wasn't sure what she wanted so the room stayed Pooh bear and Piglet. This year however she wants Tinkerbell....and PURPLE....lots of PURPLE and pink and sparkles...a really girly room in other words lol. Mom, Dad, Aunty and Gram bought a new bedroom set for Victoria for her birthday and I figure since I have to tear the room apart to get the new furniture in why not redo the bedroom at the same time. I realize I have more than likely made WAY more work for myself in the long run. I have spent the last 3 hours boxing up stuff in her room and I am not done yet. *SIGH*

Sooooo if any of you are really great at renovations or you just want to take pity on me I can sign you up to help out LOL. Comments of support of equal value are also welcome :P

If by this time next week I don't have pictures of the new room up you will know I hit a snag lol.

Time to think....

Today a friend of mine passed away after a very lengthy battle with cancer. For whatever reason I am having a hard time coming to terms with it. It really has made me look at my life and realize it may be time to make some changes.

It is starting to rain a little bit...I think I will go to bed, listen to the rain and think.

RIP Kim.

Feist knows the way to Sesame Street

That's right the ever popular 1 2 3 4 song from (Leslie) Feist has been remade for Sesame Street. Feist will be appearing in the first episode of season 39 of the show to sing the special version of the song with 4 monsters, 4 chickens and 4 penguins. She also rhymes the word four with things like door, floor and shore. Very cute.
If you can't wait until August 11 to see the appearance here it is :P

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJSEHouoHK0

Interesting note, in the original song it goes 1 2 3 4 5 6 9 or 10....probably why this song stops at four lol.

Bad Timing

My glasses just broke....guess they have been knocked off, run over and stepped one too many times....and I can't find my contacts...I really don't have the time for this. I have so much to do to finish getting ready for Victoria's party. Not being able to see makes it kind of hard....Anyone want to help me please???

Did you know?

Did you know....

The can opener was invented 48 years after canned food was introduced? Before this cans were opened with a hammer and chisel.

Honestly it took someone 48 years to come up with a better idea????

Okay Boys and Girls....It's soapbox time again!

Okay I have taken out the soapbox and hopping up on it once again. I try to refrain from these types of rants however enough is enough. What is todays subject....so glad you asked...it's the wonderful World of WarCrack!!! First off I am NOT talking to the MASSES who don't let this game run their lives. For you it is NOT an addiction and I am not suggesting you give up something you enjoy. In fact power to you. My beef lies with those who cannot control their gaming habits, causing problems in their personal, professional and daily life. This is prompted by yet another friend ditching all of their friends, ignoring the phone and blowing off work (yup that's right WORK, and for the record this is NOT a valid reason for a sick day) for this game. Enough is Enough!!!

WoW...yup that's right I have taken out the soapbox to rant about one of, if not the most addictive computer game of all time. I have NOTHING against computer games. I have NOTHING against the occasional computer game playing binge; HOWEVER when it turns from a pass time to a full blown addiction it has gone way too far. I am tired of the excuses, I am tired of being ignored and I am really tried of watching responsibilities, family members and friends take a back seat to a virtual world. The only explanation is that there is an addiction that takes over and logical, rational functioning goes out the window. This game has taken many a friend from my life. Why? It's quite simple....when you don't answer the phone, the door and make excuses for EVERY attempt to get together for MONTHS then yes I am going to walk away. I can also safely say the last two relationships I have been in have had this addictive monster be the cause much undo stress and frustration. Before I get some comment to the effect of well you can't expect a guy to pay all his attention to you, you're right and that is not at all what I expect. I do, however, feel that when you are in a relationship and the only reason for not hearing from or seeing the other person in over 3 weeks is WoW then there is a MAJOR problem.

NEWS FLASH!!!!!!

I will not take a back seat to some virtual world nor will a lot of other people. Get help before you lose someone in the real world that actually means something to you. There is no going back to a previously saved game or restarting in real life. Many relationships once damaged that badly can't be fixed and once we walk away we're gone. Don't let this happen to you. Play Responsibly.

What's new with me??? Glad you asked!!!

That's right, I finally have news!!! That stupid course I complained about doing paid off. I was accepted into the management program that starts this fall. No waiting a year like I thought! I am super excited! This means I will actually have an easier time climbing the rungs of the proverbial ladder within the organization. It also means I will have the freedom to move around as I see fit or need to depending on what the future has in store for me. The icing on the cake is that I will be making a lot more money too. Not that money is everything by any means but having enough to have fun with after the bills are paid is ALWAYS enjoyable!

Today I moved the Blue Chair in the Family Room and Found.....

-3 mismatched Polly pocket shoes (stupid small shoes)

-Pink Lip gloss

-32 cents

-a glow in the dark bracelet that no longer glows in the dark

-a high bounce bouncy ball

-crumbs (Ewww!!!)

and

-A rock with eyes drawn on it with purple marker ( from Craft time 101 with Victoria I am guessing)

This is what happens when you work full time and have no time to clean LOL.

Life is too short

This has been a hard week.

Friends of mine who have been married for 12 years were divorced this week. This was a couple that you never would have thought would have gotten divorced. It really makes me question relationships after this.

I found out that a long time family friend, whom we have travelled with south numerous years has been given less than a year to live. His decline happened so fast I am not really sure I can accurately wrap my head around it. He had a cold when we went south but it just seemed like a really bad cold. When he got home the discovered how sick he really was and his decline in health has been steady since then. On Canada day, while at the cottage, his wife told us of the prognosis and to be honest it really shocked me.

I also found out that one of my good friends from my school days almost died this past week. He was in really rough shape and if it wasn't for his brother he wouldn't have made it. I was really upset over that last night.

That really was the bulk of the bad/hard news...while none of it happened to me, nor was it about me it made me stop and think and look at my own life. I don't think enough of us truly appreciate what we have until its gone. I am going to be taking a long hard look at my life and making some changes.
