This is it...Surgery is TODAY...

This is it...we made it. We have survived the week.

In a little less than four hours, Ben will be taken into the OR and the start of his next journey will begin.

He is sleeping so peacefully at the minute, but I just want to wake him up, pick him up and hug him to bits. He looks so small laying on that bed I am not sure how I am mentally going to handle having him whisked away to surgery.

I managed to get some sleep last night but not a lot. I am nervous and scared for him. I wish I could be the one to do it for him.

I am assured the end results will more than make up for this, however right now I am not so sure.

I can't believe that we've made it to today, the next 12 hours are going to drag on for ever.

Today is it...SURGERY in 3.5 hours....

Am I Really THAT Over Protective?

Perhaps I am a bit over protective, okay a LOT over protective.

I had a minor freak out this morning at the residents. Some where full of cold and coughing and sneezing. I asked them all to put on masks.

I'm sorry, Ben is having surgery in a few days and he is NOT getting sick on my watch! I mean honestly if my husband and son aren't here because they have a cold, AND I haven't seen them in almost a week then I am not letting ANYONE in whom has anything resembling a sniffle. Sorry that's just how it is. Hence the bright blue sign I made and put on our door.

I think the little happy face makes the sign less bitchy...no??

Floyd style science!

Alternate title: How to scare the Sh*t out of your wife OR How to give mommy a heart attack!

So my husband decided to (accidentally) preform a little science experiment. This is how it went...

The Great Can Explosion!

Purpose: To scare the wife/mommy. More scientifically to show that liquids really do expand when frozen. ( You can see where this is going can't you???)

Materials: 1 can of pop (any kind will do...Sprite Zero in this case)
Cold weather (preferably with snow to camouflage the can)
1 unsuspecting wife
1 sleeping 8 year old
1 sleeping infant
Excellent timing
A job that makes you work a way (you will see why this is important later on)

Method: Place can on doorstep. Make sure it is during a cold snap where the temperature will stay -10*C or colder. Leave for work without telling the unsuspecting wife and 8 year old. Working away helps. Wait.

Pictures:

Results: After about 26 hours in -10*C temperatures or greater the can will explode causing a gun shot like sound. In other words the can explodes and hits the house. The 8 year old will wake up and scream. The infant will sleep right through. The wife will go from scared to ready to kill you in 3 seconds flat!

Conclusions: A can of pop left, outside in the cold, on the door step will explode (from the resulting expanding contents) causing your wife to try and kill you. Working away will save your life and keep you from having to clean the mess up.

Where Monday Madness Meets Mommy Having A Heart Attack!!!

I hate Monday. Let me start by saying that much. I mistakenly thought today wouldn't be as bad as normal because (for the first time since the dawn of time itself) I was off work on a Monday. I however was wrong, Oh so VERY wrong.

I awoke to my DD (darling daughter for those of you not from bbc) jumping on me wondering why there wasn't breakfast and why I didn't wake her up for school. Apparently I managed to change every clock in the house to the "new" time (stupid time change) except the one by my bed. Having said this instead of the 6:30am my clock was telling me it was it was in fact 7:30am!!! Not the start I was desperately wanting to my supposedly "good" Monday. I attempted to wash my face however DD was whining that the bus was in the subdivision. I made her a very quick breakfast that she was not at all impressed with, and when she was done I sent her to get dressed and ready for school while I made her lunch. I figured since she is almost 7 this would be okay. Obviously my brain was not functioning properly and failed to see that this was not a wise move. I attempted to make her lunch however realized that I had NOTHING in the house. I ended up working on my days off so my plan for today was grocery shopping. I managed to find enough things to make her a sandwich...that could be an entire post in and of itself!...and threw in some snack items and figured it would have to do for today. I went to find Victoria to pack her in the car and take her to school...that is when I had a heart attack! Victoria had found the temporary hair streaking kit (which I thought I had hid after the episode back in September of last year.) and proceeded to dye her hair BRIGHT BLUE. It was EVERYWHERE!!! Her floor, her walls, her shirt and yes some of it made it onto her hair. I tried to keep myself from panicking and kept telling myself that "It is washable....It WILL come out." I managed to get the blue successfully off of the walls and the floor...then realizing that the blue was probably not going to come out of Victoria's beautiful blond hair I attempted to even out the streaks a little. I then washed her hair 4 times. It was still pretty blue but at least a more washed out blue. (Please scroll down for pictures of the "after" shots.)

We eventually did make it to her school....the amazing part?? She was only 10 minutes late. I was amazed too!!!

I don't think there is enough coffee to make this day better...

I think mommy is going to lose her mind before the teenage years!!!

The House Was Too Quiet

Once again this was my fault. I made the stupid decision to have a shower in the middle of the day. Everything seemed fine. Victoria was in her room playing with her Barbie and Bratz dolls. About 5 min into the shower I heard a thump. When asked what was going on I got the "Nothing Mom" response. Anyway everything else was quiet. I should have known that was a sign of trouble. When I was done and went to see what Miss Muppet was up to I almost had a heart attack. Her beautiful blond hair was pink. Bright NEON pink. I laughed. What else could I do. I washed her hair 3 times but it is still pretty pink. I have posted some pictures of how it looks after being washed 3 times...the heart attack prevented me taking before shots....*sigh

The teenage years should be fun.

Victoria Climbs a Tree

Victoria is taking her new found love of climbing outside the gym.

For the record I did have a mild heart attack when I saw her in a TREE!!!
