The Trouble with Keys...alternately Blond moment number 20002920292

I hate keys...I have too many. Well it's not so much I have too many as work GIVES me too many. For background info to this amusing RAS on my part, as part of my job I need several (and I means SEVERAL) different sets of keys and codes. My id badge acts as a key to get me into the hospital after hours as well as the restricted areas.(Yeah I am just that cool LOL). The codes get me into the doors with the pass code locks. Think of them as fancy combination locks. Lastly I have several sets of old fashion key keys. Also keep in mind this story happened at 3am so my brain was asleep even though I was not.

I was trying to take break. I get a call. It involved me going upstairs to the Medical Day Unit to get into a locked cupboard. Being with it enough to know I need keys I grab them from the drawer and head upstairs out of my locked office. I get upstairs, right to the cupboard in fact before I notice I have the totally wrong ring of keys. Oh love a duck!!! I head back to the office only to discover I did not have my ID badge to let myself back in. I could see it on the desk through the glass window. By this point I am really mad. I had to call security to let me back into my office. I finally get in and exchange the keys, only to unlock the cupboard and realize what I was looking for was already back in my office!!!!!

Should I worry that this was only night number two????

Wednesday night Confessions

Random things I confess about today

  • I confess that I hate that I didn't get to work my normal shift and had to work days
  • I confess that I got my morning coffee at Timmy's paid for by a complete stranger
  • I confess I openly resented all the stupidness that kept me from drinking my coffee while it was still hot. I confess I drank it anyway.
  • I confess that on no less than 5 separate occasions I seriously considered duct taping my obnoxious coworker to her chair and pushing her down the hall and leaving her on another unit.
  • I confess I didn't do it and that I am truly sad and disappointed about it.
  • I confess I took my break to by groceries instead of having lunch.
  • I confess my dishes aren't done.
  • I confess my laundry pile needs it's own postal code but I am watching House as the laundry is still contained in the hamper.
  • I confess that I am tired out but I refuse to go to bed yet.
  • I confess I took so long to write this that it is no longer Wednesday anymore.

Choices....the Career Edition

So without looking a job opportunity has fallen into my lap. Way more money (over double!!) than I make now, awesome benefits, an office, a travelling and housing allowance. Only down side is that it is in the city AND it is only a project. Which may mean at the end I have NOTHING. I have been told it will more than likely work into something else, but can I really trust that? I have no idea what to do! When did life stop being easy???

We Missed The Bus....

This was my fault. I stayed up way to late last night. I was up until around 3 am on MSN. Obviously I didn't get much sleep. I had trouble getting Victoria up, she wanted to sleep in too the poor kid. Everything went fine until it came time for her to get dressed. Today is school picture day. Victoria wanted to wear a dress, however it was freezing this morning and she wanted to wear a sun dress. Over my dead body. Well by the time she realized that if she wanted to wear a dress she was going to have to cooperate the bus was in the subdivision. We were ready to leave when the bus came up the road. I ended up driving her to school. On the plus side I got to meet her teacher.

Welcome to Terrible Tuesday.

Monday Madness

Monday is always rushed for us. I have to run to work right after Victoria gets on the bus. Today we added to the classic Monday moments with this little gem.....

I had been awake most of the night with a horrible migraine. Let the record show I still have it and it has NO signs of letting up. Anyways...I went to get Victoria up and she was still sound asleep and in no mood to get up. I was so sick and so sleepy I ended up laying down next to her...thinking I could talk her into getting up...turns out both of us fell asleep...we woke up at 7:15am...she had 20 minutes until the bus and I had to be to work and at my desk by 8am. Everything from this point on was a blur. My daughter got instant oatmeal (don't judge me...it could have been worse) I got a glass of water and 2 extra strength advil since my Zomig was doing nothing. I made and packed her lunch....found her pencil case which for some reason was in her toy kitchen's oven...I have learned sometimes it is best not to ask. I got her dressed and helped her do her hair. While she was out getting her shoes and putting her lunch box in her backpack I washed my face and started to brush my hair....then I heard "Mommmmmmm the bus is HHHHeeeerrreeee.....Hurry pwease.." I manage to throw my hair into a pony tail and rush into my room to grab scrubs...thank goodness scrubs come colour coordinated!!! I quickly put on some make up and run down the hall grabbing my keys off the table on my way by. Victoria is waiting by the door. As we get outside the bus is already at the stop down the road. I throw my purse in my van and we RUN!!!!! Here comes the classic moment. As we are running to the bus stop Victoria loses one of her shoes...but she keeps going. When I stop to get it she yells "MOM LEAVE IT THERE ISN'T TIME!!!!!!" I started laughing grabbed the shoe and followed her. I laughed even harder when I saw Austin yelling for Victoria to hurry up and waving his arms like they are in a baseball game and he is waving her home. She got her shoe on before the bus stopped to let her on.

I think I will be laughing about this all week!!!

STOP STRESSING ME OUT!!!!!

I hate stupidity. I cannot stress this enough. Things have been very busy at work lately and RAS (random acts of stupidity) stress me out. I do not have the time to deal with stupid people, their questions and mistakes. Lately my goal has been not to yell and/or murder anyone in the run of a shift. The following is a list of things that you should probably avoid doing if you want to stay on my good side.

1)Unless you are my boss under NO circumstances are you to tell me what to do or how to do my job!
2)Do not call to ask my if I have fixed Meditech. I am not IS, I do not fix computers. I am not HITSNS I do not fix Meditech. May I suggest calling the large 1-866 help desk number glued to every computer, monitor, label printer and MFU (multi-functional unit....not swearing this time for once lol) in the facility.
3)Have all the info when you call something in to me. I am getting tired of being put on hold while you try to find it. Hang up....call back...I will be much nicer.
4)The bed check census...DO IT! This has been done since the dawn of time. It is mandatory and needs to be done by 2330 and not later than midnight. I am getting tired of explaining this process to you.

5) I am not your lost and found. Keep track of the things you need to do your job and DO not call me to try and find them.

I am stressed just thinking about this list....back to work in about 2 hours....Oh YIPPEE!! :P

I think the health inspector needs to condemn the office coffee maker

I am by no means an obsessive neat freak nor am I the stereo typical "Suzy homemaker" HOWEVER there are some things that should just be common knowledge. For the girls I directly work with they will know exactly what I am talking about. We have a small kitchenette area on our unit, fridge, microwave, coffee maker and table. This small kitchenette area is, on any given day, a complete disaster looking as if wild animals or small children were allowed to run amuck. Dirty dishes and empty containers get left on the table, items get left in the fridge until they turn into UFOs(unidentified fridge objects) and no one remembers what it was or when it was put in there, and then there is the coffee maker. Only a small few use this coffee pot. While I am a coffee addict I would never drink anything that came from that machine. The pot is cleaned at BEST once a month...as if that wasn't bad enough the old coffee is left in the pot sometimes for DAYS at a time. Our boss has left numerous notes asking to keep the kitchenette clean. Some of us who have been super grossed out by the state of our "break" area have taped notes to the microwave reading "please cover your food when using me" but nothing seems to work. I'm sorry but when GROWN adults need constant reminders to clean up after themselves it is just plain sad. Now it is worthy to note that even though I am old, I am one of the youngest in the department so you can't even chalk it up to not knowing any better. To summarize:1) When you dirty a dish/plate/utensil take it back to the cafeteria or home to be cleaned. DO NOT LEAVE IT ON THE TABLE!!!2) When you are done with the coffee pot TURN IT OFF. Dump out the unwanted remains and at the very least RINSE it!!! Also remember to throw the grounds and filter in the compost bin.3) If you use the fridge, make sure you take things home or throw them out before they become goo in the back for someone else to clean out.4)Take your turn to clean the kitchen area instead of trying to figure out who else worked that you can blame the mess on. Trust me cleaning up after yourself will take far less time and imagination. 5)If you use the microwave cover your food or be prepared to clean it out when your food splatters all over the inside.
Honestly this should be common sense. My 5 year old knows these rules and does a better job following them than these so called adults do.
