Nutcracker weekend was a huge success again this year. Many of the dances had changes and new costumes making for a very successful new version of this tradition. I am realizing now I did not post pictures from last month, so here we go!

Lloyd's Service Station

Recently we have undertaken the monumental task of cleaning out my Grandparents house. It has been over a year since my Grandmother fell and broke her hip. She was unable to go back to the house and is now in Wolfville nursing home. She has adjusted well, better than expected to be honest. However the decision had to be made recently as to what to do about her house in Berwick.

While the house was listed for sale for quite a while, it did not sell. The decision was made to rent it out. However the result was that we had to start cleaning out her home. Above is one of the many pictures we uncovered while cleaning. It is my Grandfathers service station in Berwick. The car parked out front was his car (which if you can make out the hand written note on the picture I am sure you already worked out) and if you look very closely you can see my Grandfather on the ladder in the picture. 

I am not sure if my aunt or my mother will end up with the picture but I have been promised a restored copy. I absolutely love this picture. He told me so many stories about this place when I was growing up but this is the first picture I have actually seen.

This video was taken when I was 14!! It makes me feel incredibly old!

Driftwood in Berwick!!

We made a trip to the Driftwood in Berwick over the Christmas holidays with some friends that were home from Ontario. The boys loved this guy that stands guard outside the washrooms! Ben especially loved his Santa hat.

Return of the Blog....2013 in review

Happy 2014!!! Yes, you have read correctly the blog is officially back! I had quite a few emails, Facebook messages and even texts asking about the discontinuation/pitiful posts that became the blog.

Long story short, I needed a break. I felt like I was going to break but to be honest stopping the blogging really didn't help. I felt like we were caught in a never ending nightmare and that somehow not typing it out would help. It really did the opposite and our stress levels soared.

Ben had his palate repair almost a year ago. Since we have been dealing with a steady stream of infections, vomiting, thick secretions no one seems to be able to explain, random falling, surgeries and therapy. Oh yes and sleep apnea!

I have missed blogging and posting pictures to share with everyone. I took a look at the stats today and most of you still visit despite my complete lack of attention over the last year. I am truly sorry. I think I was in denial at how therapeutic this blog is for me.

Welcome back! I look forward to the coming year(s) with you all! All the best in 2014!!
