After the snow

So we had yet more snow yesterday...not that it is a shock. I mean it IS winter in Canada!

First Snow of the Season!

 Harry was so excited to see the snow. We stayed at my parents last night, since we stayed late for their Christmas Party. Unfortunately, Harrison's boots didn't fit from last winter but we managed to find an old pink pair of Victoria's so he could go play for a bit.

Snow Day!!

Well both snowstorms are over. School (and pretty much everything else) was cancelled again today. At the peak of the storm the snow was falling between 4-5cm an hour!!! As you can see by the snow on my deck we got A LOT!!!!

I am so tired of SNOW!!!!

At the moment I HATE SNOW! Why?? Consider the following:

• Yesterday the car got stuck on a ridge of snow and I had to shovel it out.
• I had to wade in snow up to my arse to get to the composter.
• I slipped and fell on the ice...twice
• The car ALWAYS has to be cleaned off.
• I hate considering -1*C warm...it isn't and never will be
• I hate watching my entire family, most of my friends and some of my in laws pack up to head to the warm sunny south while I am going to be stuck here in this miserable crap ALL winter ARGH!!!!!
• A windchill of -30*C should be outlawed...but yet has happened twice in the last week.
• I am sick of weather warnings, cancellations and power outages.
• I no longer see the joy of going anywhere since I have to bundle up with only my eyes visible.

I know there is more but I will stop there. Bottom line I HATE SNOW!!!! Oh and the cold too!!!

Worst drive EVER!!!

We were "blessed" with another snow storm today. My drive to work was nasty. About 15 cm had fallen by the time I had to head into work. The roads were messy but I made it in. I thought the snow would have stopped and the roads would be better by the time I was to head home. I was very wrong. We got, in total, between 30 and 40 cm of snow depending on what area of the valley you were in. I was almost in an accident (3 times!!) on my way home but I made it through town and up the massive hill. That's when the real fun started. I got stuck trying to get into my subdivision. I was majorly ticked of and floored it in reverse and then floored it in drive. Yes I know this is bad for the car but at the time I really didn't care. I made it to the end of my road, feet away from my drive way when I got super stuck. It involved 30 minutes of shoveling a path for my car and digging the poor little orange monster out of the hole I managed to wedge it in. The car is at the very end of my drive way. The icing on the cake???? I get in the house, and look out the picture window while taking my boots off and what do I see coming in the road??????? Yup you guessed it a PLOW!!!! Not department of highways mind you but one of my neighbours who was making a path for those of us who needed to get in and out.

Still no plow...

Okay so I got myself to work...I didn't need Perry to drive me after all. I got the little orange car turned around and somehow made it through all the snow. I figured the roads would be plowed by the time I got home. Not so much...It is now almost 1am and my subdivision has yet to see a plow. The snow has pretty well stopped. I am not sure if it is flurries or if it is just snow blowing around out there now. I sure hope that between now and morning it is plowed so the bus can get in the subdivision.

I have decided I live in the snow belt of the Annapolis Valley...

Holy FREAKING snow!!!!!!!!!

This is what I woke up to. We were only supposed to get 1cm or less...I am NOT an expert but there is WAY more than that out there. I tried to get my car out and I can't move. Perry across the street is going to take me into work...as soon as he gets unstuck that is.
My vacation south is looking better all the time.

Wish me luck...Lets hope I get to work...and more important...GET BACK HOME!!

Winter Wonderland?

The flurries turned into a little more than anyone expected. That will teach me to joke about needing snow tires...looks like I really did need them. Driving was horrible even though we didn't get a lot of snow because it was right around freezing and it kept going between snow and rain before committing to snow. When it did freeze it made a slushy, soupy, icy mess. It took me forever to get home last night and I live less than 10 minutes away..it took me about 45 minutes.

Tonight I will make sure I have gloves and a snow brush/scraper. Last night I had to use my sleeve and my id....I am sure the use of my id to scrape my windsheild is frowned upon. I need a remote car starter. Maybe for Christmas?? *****HINT HINT HINT****

Winter is here....I guess I should put winter tires on the car eh?
